* Take a trip or drive to Gibraltar. It’s about 35 minutes by car. Once there you can get some duty free (very cheap) and visit the Barbary apes by taking the Cable Car up the rock.
* Visit Sierra Nevada about a 2 hour drive away, but well worth the drive. Beautiful scenery with excellent skiing conditions in the winter and lovely mountain walks in the summer.
* The historic towns of Seville, Cordoba, Cadiz and Grenada, with the famous Alhambra Palace are just over 2 hours or so, you can arrange excursion trips in Fuengirola.
* A day trip to Morocco is possible, to visit the ancient town of Tangiers. A hydrofoil takes you from Algeciras about 90 minutes away direct to the port of Tangiers, where you can visit the markets, take in the atmosphere and buy some very reasonably priced rugs!
The exclusive Los Flamingos Golf Resort is on your doorstep and other courses include; Real Club de Golf las Brisas, Aloha Golf Club, La Quinta Golf & Country Club, Los Naranjos Golf Club, and Golf la Dama de Noche (floodlit Golf available). Further east and west there are more than 40 golf courses within 30 mins drive. |
